Wittaya Aqua's name comes from the Thai word "วิทยา" or "Wittaya", which means knowledge or science. Our company ethos is exactly that. Since Wittaya's founding in 2018, we have strived to bring scientific rigor and the best analytical tools to the aquaculture industry. Our vision is to use our knowledge to feed the world with sustainably farmed seafood that is produced in an efficient and transparent manner.
At our core, we are aquaculture scientists and digital technologists who care deeply about the industry. Our team brings together decades of aquaculture science and technology experience to create a digital platform of analytical tools that integrates and interprets data across the feed-to-farm supply chain. Ultimately, we want to help the aquaculture industry become more efficient, profitable, and sustainable.
Aquaculture is a complex and competitive industry. Compared to terrestrial agriculture, which focuses on four major species—cows, pigs, chickens, and sheep—aquaculture involves rearing hundreds of species across fish, crustaceans, and shellfish. There are also many more farming systems and environmental factors that affect aquaculture, such as ponds, net pens, cages, raceways, and recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS).
Another challenge is the research gap. While terrestrial agriculture has benefited from over a century of scientific development, aquaculture research is only about forty years old in salmon. This means the range of knowledge needed is broader, and we have made less relative progress. As more data is collected in the digital era, much of it is inconsistent or incompatible. There is a large mess of data and not enough theory to interpret it.
Wittaya started by helping farmers digitize and interpret their data using scientific models based on research from our co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Dominique Bureau. Our early goal was to centralize data and uncover insights about animal growth.
We developed prediction models for growth, feed requirements, and mortality—customized with industry and farm-specific data. These models standardize performance across production cycles and allow for benchmarking. Stakeholders can objectively assess cycle performance, regardless of factors like feeding rate or water conditions. This was the foundation of AquaOp Farm.
Over time, feed producers and ingredient suppliers began asking questions about feed optimization. What ingredients are best? How do they impact animal health and cost? To answer these, we expanded into AquaOp Feed. Our goal remains the same: use data and science to uncover the truth.
With AquaOp Feed, suppliers understand ingredient contributions, producers optimize formulations, and the industry gets tools to simulate feed outcomes under different conditions. We aim to close the gap between feeds, ingredients, and farm performance.
Today, Wittaya Aqua empowers companies across the feed-to-farm value chain to better manage nutrition and production. Through our science-backed digital tools, we support sustainable, data-driven aquaculture that feeds the world efficiently.
